Laura FELIU LLOBERAS
Laura Feliu is a 26-year-old photographer based in Edinburgh. Originally from Barcelona, she started taking pictures at the age of 15 with a 35mm camera from her grandmother documenting youth and the world around her. After having studied Criminal Sciences in Barcelona, Laura move to Scotland and went on to study a Bachelor of Arts in Photography and she will be graduating this summer from Edinburgh College. Laura likes turning ideas into stills, movies and drawings. She finds poetry photographing nature and also likes creating staged scenarios. She uses the camera to observe the world we live in, to understand where we are and make statements with her photographs.
Her latest series "One night to be confused" is a personal project exploring different identities and roles hiding in a woman's mind. Very influenced by cinema this project could be described as "staged self-portraiture", where she becomes other fictional characters and photographs herself.
Last year her series "Mist" was the winner for Open Student Awards by British Institute for Professional Photography. This year Laura's recent work was on display at Cabaret Voltaire and she has been nominated as Emerging Talent by Retina Photography Festival and it will be on display again over the month of July in Edinburgh.
